Valentine Greetings

I have been working today on my Valentine mingle for the Byhand Artist Yahoo group and thought I would share the finished results. I chose to do what is called Skinny Art (3"x 5"). This actually stands up like the old time photo folders that were sort of like a tent fold with a piece from the front that slipped into the back. Hope that is clear to everyone because I don't know how else to describe it.

The main image was very kindly supplied as a freebie from Brenda Braun at Decadence2ArtBar - http://decadence2artbar.blogspot.com/ - thanks a bunch Brenda. The ribbon is organza from Close To My Heart (believe it is Holiday Red), the tiny key dangling from the ribbon at the bottom right is from EK Success (Jolee's Boutique), the lace is left over from making my friends wedding garter last year (there's the love connection) and the gold hinges at the top are punch outs from Paper Pisazz's Hardware collection as is the little key hole in the heart at the bottom. I had fun putting this together even if it did take me the better part of a day to be happy with the placement of each of the elements before applying glue.

Ancestry

This ATC was made for the Created Byhand black and white challenge for Tuesday.
The image on the ATC was from my Grandparents wedding picture ( I just cut out and changed the background) .
The picture was taken sometime between 1914 - 1918 in the Netherlands. They immigrated to Canada about 1925 with 3 children. The youngest at the time was my father aged 2 years. The buckles on my grandfathers belt are made of solid hammered silver and on my grandmothers lace headpiece at the very front (only the left one is really visable) are what they called butterflies (I believe) which are of hammered gold. They went on to have 7 more children (10 in all) after they came to Canada. The first one was a girl followed by 8 boys and the last being another girl. That is just a bit of my ancestry to share with you.

Raspberry Ice and Love Hearts

These are the two cards for the same mingle as the ATCs. The horizontal one is titled Love Hearts and this one is Raspberry Ice (because of the embossing powder used) it is all glittery but the scan doesn't show it. The scan of this one came out a funny colour because the layered piece that looks mauve is actually more pink like the heart. The patterned heart stamp is from Great Impressions (don't know the web site for them) and the oval love stamp is from one of the Michaels clear sets. The cardstock used was bought at Costco in a large block. The textured piece is actually a piece of textured wallpaper that was white and I painted silver.

This one the heart stamps are a positive and a negative of the same stamp (don't know why I didn't think to do the two step stamping with them) from www.paperinsperations.com and the swirl is from www.autumnleaves.com flourishes V.1 and the love stamp on this one is another from a Michaels clear set.

Think I'm actually catching up to the things I have to get done so I can play at the things I really want to do. After playing with this altered art stuff it is really hard to switch back to regular stamped cards.

Share Your Heart

I have been playing this week, working on some mingle stuff that needed to get done. This is an ATC to go along with the one I posted just before this one. These two ATCs will go to one person on my mingle list.

Monday Challenge 08-01-21

Well I haven't been very artful this past week, or at least nothing that I thought was good enough to share. However I did do the Monday challenge for this week and it's even still monday. Was playing a bit with my picture editing program and found a couple of things I didn't know were there. So this is what I came up with, no stamping on it though. Hope everyone has a great week and I hope to get some more art done.

ATC - Number One For the Altered Designs Lottery

This is an ATC that I did for the monthly lottery on Altered Designs. The theme was the number one so I used that along with a couple of lines from a song that some (the younger ones) may not know but I'm sure that the older ones will recognize it. It fit with the number.

Oops I boobed on the last post

Sory about the message on the last post. Didn't realize it was going to do that but hope you all could read it.

Recent Cards

The light coloured card with the yellow daisy (Class Act Stamps) and the other stamps are from Clearly Stampendous is one I did as a RAK for a lady on CST group who just had surgery recently and I thought she could use some cheer. The darker one with the flourishes is a Birthday Card done for my friend who lives close to me and it is her birthday tomorrow. So I will give it to her when I take her to lunch.

Happy Birthday

Thought I would post some of the cards I have made this month in amongst all the altered art I've done. The first one is obviously a birthday card which I have done for a very dear friend and hopefully it has arrived at her house across the country. The flower is a stamp from Class Act Stamps in Ontario, the flourish is from Autumn Leaves, Happy Birthday is the words from Hero Arts Birthday Confetti and the My Friend stamp is from one of the $1.50 variety from Michaels.

SOYB Saturday

I'm on a roll here. I saw some stuff for this, Step Outside Your Box Saturday, and thought I would give it a try. I don't have a lot of magazines hanging around (Christmas clean up) however I did find the raincoat and rubber boots that I cut out of an "O" magazine. The head came from one of my wig catalogues so not quite proportional. The sky was cut from the same magazine as well as the dark peace that she is standing on, the rest is scenery I stamped then covered with one layer of white tissue paper. Added the bird I had hanging around glued on the lady and the saying that also came from "O"magazine. Then proceeded to distress it with Tea Dye Distress ink and then used some copper rub ons over that. So this is as far outside the box I get today.

Journey

Well it hasn't been a wonderfully productive weekend here. Not to say I haven't spent a lot of time in my art room, it's just the time was spent looking for something I still haven't found. I did manage to get one piece of art done but I'm working backwards. This one is for the Old Car challenge from last Monday. It only took all week to come up with this, I just couldn't get my muse to work (she's a slacker sometimes). I'm still working at this altered art stuff and sometimes have trouble thinking outside the box. Hope you like it.

Created ByHand Challenge

Well I finally had some time to play today. So this ATC is my creation for this weeks Tuesday Challenge. Had hoped to have more art done but seems it just wasn't coming to me today. Have a great weekend all.

Toasty Warm

Well I haven't been producing much art the last few days but did manage to get this ATC done in between putting the Christmas decorations away. Thank heaven that chore is done for another year.
The Hat and Sweater were created from one of Kelly Bs background images can't remember where the face came from. Tights are from some c/s that I stamped with a weathered wood stamp in Tea Dye ink. The words are hand written by me, the flourishes are by Autumn Leaves and the background paper is from Basic Grey.
