Butterfly Thinking of You

Thought I would share a card I made up today for a Butterfly Mingle that I am doing on one of my Yahoo groups. Thought this one looked like spring. The butterfly is done with glittery embossing powder but it shows up much better in person. The background is done with a brayer and a rainbow ink pad and then that is mounted on a piece of paste paper that I made.

Tuesday's Created Byhand Challenge

For this tuesday's challenge we were given a bunny card template from Quietfire Designs http://www.quietfiredesign.com/bunnycard.htm which we could use as it was or resize and use for whatever art we chose. I chose to make the image small enough for an ATC. I then covered the bunny with a piece of fabric and stitched around it, added a pink jewel for his eye and half a white pompom for his tail. I then added a clipart image leaning on his back. This was all mounted on a piece of Basic Grey patterned paper from the Stella Ruby collection that I had distressed with Ranger Distress ink in Weathered Wood and stamped with Quietfire Designs http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/cart.php?target=category&category_id=579 Flourishes and the word Dream from another one of their stamps using ColorBox chalk ink in Prussion Blue as well as inking the edges with the same colour.

Mondays Challenge

This is the ATC I did for the Monday Challenge on Altered Designs group using the image that was generously provided by Outside The Margins http://www.outsidethemargins.com/photos.php?gallery=8 The words are part of a stamp from Quietfire Designs http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/cart.php?target=category&category_id=785 that I just inked up the first line. The mounting corners and the black layer were done from an envelope that was in my reject pile. In other words not quite the garbage can. I sealed the envelope closed then cut the 4 corners off to use as the mounting for the image, then cut a piece from the envelope to create the black mounting layer. There is a shimmery piece of Stardream paper in a coppery/brown colour between the image and the black but it doesn't show up very well. Then the whole was mounted to a layer of Bazzill textured cardstock in a deep red.

TGIF - Life's a Dance

Another ATC, this one is for the TGIF mingle on Altered Designs. The theme was Black, Red and White. The image I used on this one is one of the free printable collage sheet generously provided by Lisa Vollrath over at http://www.gomakesomething.com . The words are computer generated and the red fabric stuff is the netting they tie up Valentine Chocolate boxes with.
Yup got chocolate!! Bring me chocolate! Want more chocolate!! Oh sorry I got carried away there but I guess you get the drift that I like chocolate. Isn't it the four food groups they keep talking about? LOL Enough of the sillies and any comments are appreciated and encouraged. Have a great day

Monday Challenge for Feb. 18/08

Just a bit late here but better late than never I guess. This ATC was done for the Monday Challenge on Yahoo Group Altered Designs. It sat on my worktable for half the week because I wasn't sure how I wanted to finish it but this is what I came up with in the end. The grill work over the image is done on acetate using some of the Michael's $1.50 clear stamps and Memories Black ink. The Ivy is a stamp from PSX in Memories Hunter Green and then coloured with pencil crayonds. The ribbon started out as white gross grain which I coloured by swiping the ColorBox chalk ink in Bisque over it several times until it was the colour I wanted. Dried it and then ran it through my printer to get the word.

TGIF - The 60's

Just thought I would share the ATC that I made for the TGIF mingle on Altered Designs. This was a struggle for me, either my memory is really bad or I slept through the 60's. I had a hard time thinking of things that were about or in that time period. Well other than hippies in the late 60's. I know when I was looking for images to use I kept looking at the fabric the clothes were made from thinking," people actually wore that stuff " Now the cars were a different matter I can remember lots of those with interesting thoughts to go with them hhmmm! maybe I didn't sleep all the way through the 60's but I'm not tellin. LOL

Out of Commission

One of the ladies on a Mixed Media art group I belong to was a victim of winter's black ice, took a fall and broke her wrist. The colours look good on the furniture but not on her thumb . So since I'm not there in person I have cyber signed her fabric covered cast. Hope she heals fast so she can get back to creating art.

1-2-3 Mingle

This is my interpretation of the 1-2-3- mingle on Altered Designs group. It had to be a 1 x 1 in., a 2 x2 in. and 3 x 3 in. pieces all in the same theme. I chose to create the three different sizes from the same image to meet the same theme idea. They are sort of like a puzzle that go together one on top of the other and are held together by magnets. When all three pieces are together you then have a complete fridge magnet.

TGIF Wings

Managed to get another piece of art done today. This is Wings ATC for TGIF Mingle on Altered Designs. It is done using Twinkling H2Os on Stardream white cardstock. The stamps are from Stampin Up except for the saying and I'm not even sure where I got that one, just thought it fit the theme.

Spring Flourishes

This ATC was one that I finished up today for a lottery on another yahoo group. The tulips were coloured partly with the magic pencil technique, which uses the oderless Mineral Spirits and a paper stump to move the colour, and plain coloured pencil technique. The flourish was stamped first in ColorBox chalk ink Lime Pastel and then shadow stamped with their Pink Pastel. The ribbon with the word spring on it was done with my computer and printer. I print out the word on a piece of paper so it looks the way I want it then I take a piece of ribbon and place it over the printed word, tape the leading edge with removeable scotch tape then run through the printer. Thought it might bleed a bit into the fabric of the ribbon but not a bit.

Mondays Challenge - Pioneers

This is an ATC I did for one of my groups. The challenge was to use the image provided and make art. I chose to go with the theme of the picture and use vintage as my style. The image was supplied by Jeanie from my yahoo group Altered Designs. The pieces that I used on the background are from Ice Coupons which is ephemera that was supplied by Lori Roberts and you can see her wonderful art work here http://alteredartexpressions.blogspot.com/

Nothing is as Beautiful as Spring

This is a card made today for a lottery on one of my groups. The theme was children and I don't have a lot of stamps that deal with children so I picked this clip art image that looked very spring like (which I can't remember where I got it). I now put the name of the web site that I get stuff from right in the file name so I will know who to credit for providing it. Sorry to the originator.

This was a colour image that I changed up the colour of the dress and bonnet because it was pretty light. Mounted on black then pink cardstock. The verse is a PSX stamp inked with Golden Mist Opalite Ink from www.tsukineko.com stamped on black cardstock then Gold Sparkle Pearlex brushed over it. This was then layered to pink like the image. Both these were attached to a base card made from Stardream which is a shimmery white with gold highlights. The flourish is from the www.AutumnLeaves.com set called Flourishes V:1 and was stamped using Versa Fine Black from www.tsukineko.com . However when held at an angle the flourish looks like brushed gold. This is also not a standard size card but rather 4 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in.

TGIF Challenge

This ATC is for a TGIF challenge on Altered Designs. Started playing this morning with no set project in mind. However when I was looking through drawers and in boxes I came across a container I hadn't looked in for awhile. Low and behold it contained a ton (well maybe not quite a ton) of postage stamps. These were from my mom's old stamp collection and they are from all over the world. So it was inevitable that I create Mail Art. Guess I've just squeeked by to get my ATC in the folder. Enjoy.

The Secret of Genius

This is my Quietfire Black and White card for the Challenge over on Two Peas in a Bucket http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com:80/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2426176 The challenge was to use only black and white and also a saying from Quietfire Designs http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/ This was created using "The Secret of Genius" quote stamp along with an image from a collage sheet (I can't remember which one) The flourish is from a sheet of Rub Ons from Basic Grey's Wholy Cow line. The black strip to the left of the little girl is done using the 3/16 double sided tape from Quietfire http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/cart.php?target=product&product_id=16941&category_id=575 on a black piece of cardstock and the sticky part uncovered to attach black and silver micro beads and then this strip is attached to the card with another strip of double stick tape.

There are several different challenges at the Two Peas WinterStamp08 which runs until Feb.9th. So maybe there is something there you might like to do.

Another Site to Share

Just thought I would share another site that is having a Valentines countdown image give away. You can find it here at Artist How To.

Created By Hand Tue. Challenge 08/01/05

This is Skinny (3"x 5") Art that I did today for the Created By Hand Tuesday Challenge. The challenge was to use the Free Collage image from QuietFire's December Newsletter Quietfire Newsletter in some form of art. I chose to use the Angel image as a picture within a frame. The frame and the rod it is hanging from were created using the Spellbinder's Wizard Die Cut & Emboss tool https://www.spellbinders.us/ct/store/aboutus.asp and the quote stamp is from http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/ . Suzanne carries some really terrific stamps and all kinds of other goodies to be creative with. So hop on over and have a look around.

Fantasy

This is an ATC I made for the Altered Designs Monday Challenge. Wings on a baby are a bit outside my box but I'm working on it. Who knows maybe I will become quite comfortable with it.
