Something Different

I haven't done much with ink and paper recently but that doesn't mean I haven't been creative. So thought I would share the pictures of my latest creation.
The base hat is just a plain and simple man's Bowler. It had satin ribbon around the brim and I added some small black braid trim over top of that to give it more depth and texture. I used some soft tulle netting in black (to cover the plain black hat band and the yellowish feathers that were stuck into it) with the ends left longer to trail off the back. I added black silk flowers with glittered edges and black feathers with shine and some soft fluffy black ones. To take away some of the somber effect of the all black I added some small blue silk roses & buds along with the long blue and black feathers which have a bit of a greenish shine to them.
I created this hat as part of my costume for my summer hobby of Cowboy Action Shooting which I share with my hubby. Now lets hope it doesn't rain this next weekend so I get to wear it rather than a rain hat.
